If it’s not one thing…
August 27th, 2005First I read this, in a link from Violet Blue’s blog at Tiny Nibbles; and then I read this, from the Fox website. Uh, where to begin… Well, for starters, is it possible for us (and by “us,” I mean, Americans of non-Japanese descent) to about sexuality in Japan without talking about panties in vending machines? Funny as the essay is (in a The 40-Year-Old Virgin kinda way — you’ve seen it by now, right?), something about this post just doesn’t sit well with me. For one thing, people sell their used panties here in the US, too.
Second, about Ralston, the mountain-climber who cut off his own arm to save his life while trapped under a boulder two years ago: would you still climb? I mean, seriously, would you? The guy’s back to perfect health and climbing all over the world. I think that’s called bravery. I’d be permanently shell-shocked, myself.
Third, my friend Phyllis Christopher is going to be on the Derek and Romaine radio show this Wednesday afternoon, at 4:15 p.m. — I will be all ears! Phyllis is a fab lesbian-sex photographer, and she’ll be talking about her new DVD, Sextrospective.
Finally, I am excited to see that this zine, Size Queen, which is the re-incarnation of the famous Fat Girl zine, is getting some press — as well as a spot on the magazine rack at A Different Light, one of my favorite SF LGBT bookstores.
