Bisexual Writers and Transsexual Iranians

April 17th, 2006

Athena here is soooo gorgeous!A friend has started a new group for bisexual writers, of which yours truly is a member. Now she’s starting other bisexual groups as well. See details below.

Plus, click on the picture to the right to read an article about transsexual and transgender people in Iran.

New Bi Professional Associations Forming! It’s Up to You!

Bi Teachers, Bi Mental Health Professionals and Bi Health Care Providers

The Bi Writers Association now has over 30 members and we are already networking and supporting each other in many ways through our group e-list.

Bialogue would like to know whether bi teachers, mental health professionals and health care providers would like to have their own associations and e-lists?

The purpose of these associations is to provide support and networking opportunities, reduce isolation (it’s no fun being the only bi in the office), provide access to information on bisexuality (as it pertains to your field), access to training materials for association members who train professionals in their field and facilitate the dissemination of information and resources for other professionals in your field seeking to increase their sensitivity to and knowledge of bi people they provide services to.

We’re thinking the proposed Association of Bi Mental Health Professionals (or whatever name we eventually agree on) could include mental health professionals of all kinds: psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, sex therapists, psychotherapists and sexuality researchers. The proposed Bi Health Care Providers Association could include health care providers of all kinds: doctors, physician assistants, nurse-practitioners, nurses, nutritionists, HIV counselors, chiropractors, massage therapists, phlebotomists, medical assistants, etc. The proposed Bi Teachers Association could also include guidance counselors, teachers assistants, principals, school librarians…even school security.

It’s up to you! Let us know if you are interested and what profession you are in. If there is enough interest we will send a follow-up announcement on which groups are forming and how to join. Send inquiries to Sheela Lambert at info@bialogue.org.
