Women of Color Conference

February 1st, 2007

Mililani TraskThis is an extremely cool event, coming up in Berkeley, CA, next month. It’s the 22nd Annual Empowering Women of Color Conference, and the keynote speaker is Hawaiian sovereignity movement leader Mililani Trask. Here’s some info about her, from the conference website:

“Mililani Trask is a leader of the Hawaiian sovereignty movement and an internationally acclaimed political speaker and attorney. Trask’s most significant contribution to the Hawaiian sovereignty movement was her founding of Na Koa Ikaika o Ka Lahui Hawai’i, an internationally recognized native Hawaiian non-governmental organization. Outside of Hawai’i, Trask has worked with the United Nations to aid indigenous people from around the world seeking independence. ”

If you get the chance, attend the conference or support someone else to do so.
