June 28th, 2007I’m very excited about the attention being given to the work of the fabulous Haitian-American queer performance artist Lenelle Moise. Check out this article about her in Time Out New York.
The National Black Justice Coalition, the leading black LGBT nonprofit, has some strong words to say about the Supreme Court’s latest Giant Mistake. It’s really important to let your elected officials know that segregation is not okay in our nation’s public schools. I’m glad that the NBJC is taking a stand.
Finally, my Brave and Unapologetic Black LGBT Person of the Week award goes to Andre Jackson, who put a picture of himself kissing his boyfriend in his high school yearbook, got censored, and fought the good fight. Read the Associated Press article about it here.
