Coming and Going

March 30th, 2008

I just had a fabulous week and I have another great one coming up, so I thought I’d share. I just got back from Toronto, where I got to visit my adorable new baby “nephew” (hi, Samuel!) and his parents, my dear friends Sly and Sophie. While I was in town, I was fortunate enough to get to meet Margaret Robinson, PhD candidate and bi activist extraordinaire. Margaret’s got Toronto on the path to being a truly bi-inclusive place, and I have a lot to learn from her incredible work.

When I back to San Francisco, I was honored to be part of a book reading for Best Sex Writing 2008. The reading took place at the Center for Sex and Culture, which is a great sex ed nonprofit. I read an excerpt from my essay in the book, sharing the stage with sex/tech maven Violet Blue (!) and wordsmith Jen Cross among others. Very exciting! Of course I got their autographs. :D

At the reading, I met Simone Corday, MA, who just published a book about her experiences working at the Mitchell Brothers’ Theatre. I already added this book to my Amazon wishlist!

I’m only back in town for a few days, because, on Wednesday, my fiancee and I are jetting off to London! She has a film in the London Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, called The Insomniacs. The film festival has been gracious enough to bring us to London to attend the screening, which is actually a world premiere! Equally delightful is the fact that my new British friend Jin has been connecting us with a whole group of LGBTQ Londoners to hang out with while we’re there! It’s going to be one hell of an adventure…

I’ll be back next week to let you know how things went!
