Post-Election
November 16th, 2008(I didn’t get a chance to comment on the election in last week’s blog post — I had the post pre-loaded and ready to go, because of some school work that I knew would be capturing my attention last Sunday. But, here goes…)
We won! (This is me, coming out as a Democrat.) We won! And an African American has been elected President of the United States! That is unbelievable to me. As a black woman, I never thought I’d see the day. I remember when he first declared that he was running, I said to some co-workers, “He’ll never get elected. He won’t even get nominated.” I literally couldn’t image that the US would make such a decision.
Well, I’m eating my words now. And, of course, I voted for him for the nomination and for the win. What an incredible thing!
In other news, the amazingly fruitful Violet Blue posted this on her blog a couple weeks back, and I want to share it with you, in case you haven’t seen it: research on sex workers in Europe. Fascinating stuff. What are your thoughts?
